What is Inflammation and Why Does it Matter?

You may have heard about inflammation before but perhaps you haven’t.

Inflammation is a hot topic these days but do you actually know what it is?

If you haven’t heard about it, I am about to introduce you to this incredibly important process that is at the root of almost all chronic disease, bothersome symptoms, and health imbalances we see today.

Whatever previous knowledge you have of inflammation, I am going to help explain it in a way you may not be familiar with. I know when I studied nutrition and biomedical sciences in my undergraduate years I learned about inflammation, but it was still a very vague process. It seemed to be at the root of everything but I couldn’t understand what is actually was. What was ACTUALLY happening in our body? It wasn’t until medical school that it all finally clicked, and I wanted to share a simplistic explanation of it with you!

Why Should You Care

If you experience low energy, brain fog, joint pain, anxiety, depression, painful periods, hormonal imbalances, PCOS, endometriosis, autoimmune disease, acne, eczema, diabetes, high cholesterol, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, or any chronic disease, you most likely have significant inflammation at play in your body. 

The foods we eat impact inflammation significantly. Our food can be the source or the solution when it comes to inflammation, especially the fat we eat! This is important to know and understand because the choices we make every single day can greatly impact our health and how we feel!
